Operating 24/7, the Microbiology clinical laboratory processes over 800 clinical samples daily and provides advanced diagnostic services across specialized divisions, including bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, mycobacteriology, and molecular diagnostics. Dedicated to the diagnosis, prevention, and control of infectious diseases, the laboratory significantly enhances patient care and supports evidence-based clinical decision-making. The department actively participates in the hospital infection prevention and control initiatives. The faculty are active members in Hospital infection control committee and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
The Laboratory offers timely and clinically relevant diagnosis facilitating prompt treatment and improving patient outcomes. It serves as a hub for both UG and PG training. It actively monitors antimicrobial resistance trends and healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), strengthening hospital infection control programs and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives. Advanced diagnostic platforms like Real Time PCR, MALDI-ToF, GeneXpert, and BioFire are available for both diagnosis and research.
